PlanckOne FoleyAI and FoleyAR Took
the Converge Stage at SWITCH 2026
The last 30%, without the stagePerform don't re-record · no stage, no prop room · against picture, in real time.
At SWITCH 2026, Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology, Chai Yee Wei took the Converge Stage to show PlanckOne FoleyAI and PlanckOne FoleyAR running live — the first public demonstration of PlanckOne FoleyAR.
The session ran at 4:00 PM on Tuesday 27 October on the Converge Stage, Level 1 of the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, under the show's Tech Showcase and Extended Reality track. SWITCH is organised by Enterprise Singapore and runs from 27 to 29 October 2026.
A live demo, not a slide deck
The talk was built around a working demonstration rather than a roadmap. A clip went in. PlanckOne FoleyAI watched the picture and returned synchronized diegetic sound — footsteps, fabric movement and impacts — as separate, editable layers. Then the Apple Vision Pro went on, and the same scene was performed against that generated track with PlanckOne FoleyAR — hands in the air, surfaces and objects virtual, the take landing in the session in front of the room.
Showing both halves back to back is the point. Audiences have seen generated audio before, and they have seen Foley performed before. What they have rarely seen is the hand-off: a machine pass and a human pass landing in the same session, in sync, as layers that can each be edited on their own.
Inside the headset, on the big screenWhat the performer sees — picture, transport and track laid over the virtual surface they are working on.
Two passes, one pipeline
PlanckOne FoleyAI delivers the bulk of a Foley track from picture alone, in hours rather than weeks. PlanckOne FoleyAR exists for the part it cannot reach: the 30% of a finished track that carries intent rather than information — the footstep that tells you a character is exhausted, the object a director wants heard a particular way. It is built so a designer can shape that last stretch by performing it, rather than by rebuilding a stage around it.
Both passes, one stageThe generated pass on the screens, the performed pass happening live between them.
Because the generated material arrives split by category, a performed take can replace one layer, sit underneath it, or take over for a few frames and hand back — without disturbing anything else in the mix.
Extended reality, put to work
The pitch from the stage was three lines long. Perform, don't re-record — your hands are the Foley artist, and movement drives the sound directly. No stage, no prop room — surfaces, objects and spaces are virtual, and they load instantly. Against picture, in real time — work the pass to the cut, hearing sync as you move.
That framing matters for a session titled Extended Reality: From Exploration to Real-World Impact. Most extended-reality demonstrations ask an audience to imagine a future use. This one asked them to watch an existing craft job get done faster, by someone who runs the production studio the tool was built in. Getting that in front of this particular room took work from outside Mocha Chai: the session was programmed and supported by the team at the Infocomm Media Development Authority, who shaped the Extended Reality track and made the live demonstration possible. PlanckOne FoleyAR is built in partnership with Red Airship.
Hands as the instrumentNo props on the stage at all — the movement itself drives the sound.
Virtual surfaces, instantSand, tile, a shoe, a flip-flop — the prop room loads in a second and weighs nothing.
“We are a production studio before we are a software company, and that is the whole argument. The tools came out of jobs we had to deliver. Standing on a stage in Singapore and running the full round trip in front of people — picture in, layers out, then performing the last thirty per cent live — is a better explanation than any deck we could have built.”

From Amsterdam to Singapore
SWITCH follows a busy September. At IBC2026 in Amsterdam, Mocha Chai announced the PlanckOne FoleyAI integration with ATOMOSphere, the cloud production platform from Atomos, and spent four days on the Atomos stand showing the generated Foley workflow to broadcast and post teams.
Amsterdam was a trade-floor audience of broadcast and post professionals, there for the ATOMOSphere integration. Singapore is the home crowd, a different room — founders, investors and technologists rather than sound editors — and the first audience anywhere to see the performed pass run alongside the generated one.

About PlanckOne FoleyAI
PlanckOne FoleyAI generates synchronized diegetic sound directly from picture. It identifies the actions, materials and environments on screen and returns footsteps, fabric movement and impacts as separate, fully editable layers, and integrates with ATOMOSphere, the cloud production platform from Atomos.
About PlanckOne FoleyAR
PlanckOne FoleyAR is an augmented reality Foley tool built on Apple Vision Pro. The performer's hands drive the sound directly against virtual surfaces and objects, with the picture and the generated FoleyAI layers playing in sync; takes are recorded as further editable layers in the same session — closing the last 30% of a finished Foley track.
